Malossi cast iron cylinder kits, the first and simplest step in modifying your moped's engine, are the optimal choice for continuing to use a standard or approved exhaust system.

In these cylinder kits, the high durability characteristic of cast iron is combined with Malossi's almost maniacal quality standards, making them one of the very few companies to demand the utmost even from this class of cylinder kits. This approach includes the extremely strict selections for pairing the cylinder and piston, rigorously maintained within the maximum 20 micron tolerance range.

The cylinder kit offers an increase in power and torque performance thanks to the new cast iron cylinder, which, while maintaining both the bore and the muffler connection technique unchanged, has benefited from a total redesign that led to the complete replacement of the internal transfer ports. This now allows for optimal coupling not only with our crankcases but also with original ones. Indeed, mounting these cylinder kits on original crankcases only requires re-boring the cylinder liner passage.

Compared to the previous version: the exhaust has been revised both in its geometry, re-profiled and dimensionally varied, and in its timing, which has been matched to the intake timing; the intake transfer ports are perfectly symmetrical at the cylinder mouth and the flow path has a completely different orientation for the fresh gases entering the chamber. The major novelty is the rear transfer ports, which, having undergone a revision of the "fingered" rear technique, now feature an adequate inclination and, above all, a calculated progression of flow passage areas. The union of the two rear ducts in the characteristic "H" shape allows for maximum utilization of the pumping action, transferring the greatest possible energy with the least losses to the flows. These innovations result in a more uniform scavenging between the right and left sides, which leads to better combustion and, consequently, an incredible increase in the characteristic efficiency of two-stroke engines.
