After the great success of the Piaggio crankcases, Malossi completes the work: the Ø 47 BIG DEPS aluminum cylinder kits are now available again!
The only cylinders on the market for CIAO/SI with split exhaust and symmetrical transfers!!!!
The exhaust connection is bolted and offers two great advantages:
Extreme resistance and possibility of replacement in case of breakage
Possibility to enlarge the exhaust outlet, further increasing performance
These results were made possible by the decompresion valve supplied in the kit, which is smaller than the original Piaggio one.
The head has a central hemispherical combustion chamber.
Malossi BIG DEPS aluminum cylinder kits represent the maximum balance between performance and component durability! The BIG DEPS were designed and manufactured with the precise aim of obtaining cylinder kits capable of guaranteeing high reliability together with the refinement of the internal thermo and fluid dynamic systems.
THE CYLINDER
Made with the same high-strength aluminum alloy as our racing cylinders and a nickel-chrome plated barrel. The central core has been re-profiled at the transfer ports to have a larger heat exchange surface and better flow of cooling air to allow the fresh charge to enter the combustion chamber at optimal temperature and pressure conditions, thus improving the volumetric efficiency of the engine. In the front part of the cylinder there is a machined and finished support surface with high-precision tools, with 4 threaded holes necessary for connecting the complete manifold.
The most important innovation is represented by the completely redesigned internal transfer system, specifically designed to obtain cylinder scavenging by maximizing power at the correct operating speed. This has led to a large increase in performance throughout the engine's operating range, making it more powerful and at the same time more brilliant in torque delivery, without neglecting greater temperature control in the combustion chamber, avoiding unpleasant overheating.
THE CYLINDER KIT
The new 2018 range provides for vast interchangeability, producing a series with a Ø 10 piston pin (if the user wants to keep their stock crankshaft or mount the 53 7313 Malossi) and a series with a Ø 12 piston pin for high-strength crankshafts such as the 53 1802 RHQ Malossi.
GASKETS
The gasket bag is supplied with a new 0.5 mm head gasket, no longer made of aluminum but of ANNEALED COPPER: a material with a higher thermal transmission coefficient than aluminum, thanks to which a greater amount of heat can be transmitted from the combustion chamber to the cooling fins, thus keeping the temperatures in the chamber more controlled. A greater permeability to heat flow also helps to prevent a consequent increase in the life of this, also avoiding mixture leaks from the head. The base gasket has been designed to couple with the new shape of the cylinder dictated by the redesigned transfer ports and is supplied in 3 different thicknesses to allow the user to use different compression ratios than those recommended, to obtain different engine settings based on their uses and experience.
EXHAUST MANIFOLD
Connection to the muffler is made possible by a fitting fixed by a flange coupled to a specially designed profile in the cylinder and connected to it by 4 screws. By adopting this solution, just like in racing cylinders, it was possible to solve all loosening problems due to vibrations, regardless of the power achieved. The new flange, made of blued steel, also has two spring housing ears for connecting artisanal mufflers without having to drill holes in the cylinder fins. Excellent sealing is ensured by an O-ring placed on the mating wall of the fitting, which prevents any oil residue from leaking from the exhaust outside the cylinder. Each kit is supplied with two different manifolds: one for mounting original mufflers or those with the same coupling dimensions, and one with larger internal and external dimensions for an unchoked exhaust which, coupled with sportier mufflers, allows the achievement of maximum power and torque values.
